Friends of the Orinda Library

The Friends of the Orinda Library is a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to improving library services in Orinda. Through membership donations and sales of donated books, the Friends provide the library with books, books on tape, magazines, videos and DVDs, music CDs, and investment service subscriptions.

When you join as a member of the Friends, you will receive our newsletter keeping you up to date on library programs and events. Your membership dues will provide library materials to help fill the shelves of our beautiful new library!

Book Sales

The Friends of the Orinda Library Bookshop, staffed by volunteers, is open the following hours:
Monday through Wed., and Friday & Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Bookshop is located next to the Library on the upper level. We sell gently used books at great prices.

Special Book Sales

Special book sales are held most months in the Library lower level sorting room. (No book sales in April, August, November)
Book sale hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Friends Bookshop will remain open during these hours also. Please see the Orinda Library Programs & Events page for specific Book Sale dates.

Donations

Donations are accepted during open hours only. Please do not leave donations in the lobby.

You may leave donated books in the donation room at the north end of the parking garage under the library. Look for the yellow door that says "Book donations". Sorry, we cannot accept magazines, textbooks, Reader's Digest Condensed Books, or any dirty or moldy books. These materials may be recycled in your brown recycling bin at home.

If you would like a receipt for your donation, come while the Library is open. Library staff will provide a receipt. If you have questions about donations please call the library at 925-254-2184.
