About Deer Valley High School
Contra Costa County Library, Deer Valley High School, and the City of Antioch have partnered to improve access to reading and learning for teens. Through extended after school library hours and a unique library service that began in March 2009, students can now connect to County Library services without going any farther than the high school.
Students can apply for a County Library card, put holds on material--including books and audio visual material--access library databases, and pick up and return items at Deer Valley High School. Library card applications turned in by students are verified by Deer Valley staff and forwarded to the Antioch Library for processing. Library cards are then sent back to Deer Valley for student pick-up.
Deer Valley High School Library's extended hours provide a place for students to read, study, conduct research, or use computers several evenings a week. The Library Connection is the first step toward bringing library services to youth in southeast Antioch. Antioch Library staff and Deer Valley High School Library staff are pleased to work together to provide this service for teens in our community.
