The City of Lafayette is a quiet, semi-rural town with outstanding schools and strong focus on education and life-long learning. The Lafayette Library, which opened its doors in 1962, is a well-loved community gathering spot and is soon to be replaced with the new Lafayette Library and Learning Center. This 34,973 SF building is scheduled to open in Fall 2009 and will host the Glenn Seaborg Learning Consortium, a "dream team" of 12 Bay Area institutions offering an unprecedented wealth of programs, exhibits, and lectures.
