What is Library-a-Go-Go?
Library-a-Go-Go is an automated book dispensing machine. It's a self-contained collection of books that allows Contra Costa County Library card holders to borrow library books.
A touch screen, similar to an ATM screen, is used to select from up to 500 books that are delivered through an opening in the front of the unit. Books are returned thourgh the same slot.
How does Library-a-Go-Go work?
Hold your library card in front of the red flashing barcode reader. Press "borrow" and then "complete list" to choose a book. The book is checked out to you and dispensed from the machine in a plastic case. Take the book, the case, and your receipt, which shows the due date.
What’s in the Library-a-Go-Go book dispenser?
The Library-a-Go-Go machine at the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART station includes popular adult and young adult fiction and nonfiction. Library-a-Go-Go in Discovery Bay will include both adult and children’s books. Each location will have some Spanish titles available as well.
How many items can I check out at a time?
Three.
When is my book due?
As at all Contra Costa County libraries, the machine gives you a printed receipt with the due date.
How
do I return my book when I'm finished?
Return the book in its case to the same Library-a-Go-Go machine where you borrowed the book.
What happens if I lose the book, the case or both?
If you lose the case or the book or both, visit
any Contra Costa County community library
and pay the charges.
The charge for a lost book is $5.00 plus the
replacement cost of the book.
The charge for a lost case is $5.00. Books cannot
be returned to Library-a-Go-Go without the case.
You can also download and print the Library-a-Go-Go Payment Form to send a check by mail.
Can I renewed my book?
Library-a-Go-Go books cannot be renewed.
Can I place a hold on a Library-a-Go-Go book?
Library-a-Go-Go books cannot be placed on hold.
