Built in 1961, the Pleasant Hill Library was constructed on an approximately 5.5 acre site between Oak Park Boulevard and Santa Barbara Road in Pleasant Hill. The building houses the public library, the Contra Costa County Library's Administration and Technical Services staff, and the Project Second Chance adult literacy program. The library's collection of over 184,000 books, audiobooks, and videos is heavily used, and our large reference collection attracts people from all over the county. We serve all ages with our programs, which include several preschool story times, teen programs, monthly adult programs, and a book club. The Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library raises over $30,000 a year for programs and new books.
