How to search for jazz related items in the Contra Costa County Library Catalog:

Select the "Advanced Search" option on left hand side of screen and use the following strategies:

Keywords: Use "Jazz" and the word or words you want. This can be a song title, a performer, a songwriter or a type like "singers" or "musicians".

Media Type: (optional) You may select a specific format from the drop-down box called "Limit by Media Type". These include everything from videos to books.

Branches: (optional) Next you can, if you desire, select "Limit by branch and availability". This allows you to specify "Show only items currently on the shelf? Yes" and to specify the branch you would like to search. Click on the button for the desired branch.

Search Results

When you see the item you would like, click on the blue, underlined title for details about the item status. You may either click on the button "Where to find it" or scroll to the bottom of the page where the branch and item status is listed. If it is "In Library" write down the call number. Library staff can assist you in locating the item.

Request Item/Place Hold

Should the item you want not be available (have a status of "Hold" or "Checked out") you may place a hold by selecting the button on the left hand side of the screen - "Place Hold/Request this item". To request an item, you will need a valid Contra Costa County Library card. Follow the instructions on the screen. After you have placed the hold, you will see a page stating your number in the queue for this item.

Periodicals

The collection has a number of popular jazz periodicals. Periodicals: a list of available jazz subscriptions is available here. However, they are not listed in the library catalog.
