Meet your Librarian

Meet Amy Mockoski, Librarian Specialist for Youth Services

Amy Mockoski

Amy Mockoski has been with the Contra Costa County Library for 15 years. She is the librarian specialist for youth services, responsible for coordinating services to schools, families, and children throughout the county. Amy has also held positions as the children’s librarian in San Ramon and library assistant in Brentwood.

It was watching other librarians enjoy their jobs that set Amy on her career path.

“I was working as a cataloging assistant with a team of librarians and I noticed how much they loved and were passionate about their work, “she said. “I wanted to feel like they did about their careers and it hit me like a flash of lightning that I should go to library school and become a children’s librarian.”

Amy says she can’t imagine being anything but a librarian because she gets to be creative, act silly at storytime and share her love of books.

“I’m always grateful to have a job that fits me so perfectly,” she laughs. “Every single day is different and the opportunities to be creative are endless.”

Amy is named after Amy March from the book “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has two sons. When she’s not reading, she likes to watch reality dancing shows, and share movie night with her family.

Amy received her undergraduate degree in art history from UC Santa Cruz and her master’s degree in library and information science from San Jose State University.
