Liz Fuller has held several positions at several locations in her 25 years with the Contra Costa County Library. She is currently the Senior Community Library Manager in Brentwood. She enjoys the variety involved in the job and using her life experience to help people.

“One day in the life of a librarian might include meetings with community and city leaders, writing a grant, helping someone find the perfect book, or hosting a program for kids, teens or adults,” she says. “It’s a great quality to know a little bit about a lot of things. Everything you’ve ever learned in your life can help you in this job, especially when answering reference questions.”

Liz grew up in Pleasant Hill and, after her dad retired from PG&E, the family bought a 7-Eleven and a restaurant called FUBAR’s. The restaurant often booked big name comedians including Robin Williams, Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey, Paula Poundstone and Will Durst.

“Once during a show, Robin Williams brought the entire audience over to 7-Eleven and asked them all to buy a Slim Jim,” she laughs.

Liz’s favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird and her favorite book that was made into a movie is Pride and Prejudice. She enjoyed both the A&E miniseries and the movie starring Keira Knightley. She is looking forward to another favorite book hitting the big screen.

“Longbourn by Jo Baker was optioned by Focus Features and is scheduled for release in 2017,” she says. It’s a downstairs version of Pride and Prejudice and I envisioned it as a movie the whole time I was reading it.”

When she is not at the library, Liz enjoys hiking, watching movies and vacationing with her family. For their next trip, they are trying to decide between a cruise to Alaska or a bicycle tour through Vietnam.
