Meet your Librarian

Meet Michael Beller, Community Library Manager at the Ygnacio Valley Library

Michael BellerMichael Beller is a ball of energy who loves to have fun. He enjoys his job as community library manager at the Ygnacio Valley Library in Walnut Creek and says it was volunteering for the library in college that led him down this career path.

“After two years working in the campus library, I knew there wasn’t anything I wanted to do except become a librarian,” he says. Some of his favorite things about being a librarian are performing an important public service, seeing new books arrive, and watching early readers as they read to therapy dogs.

Michael says, “People are genuinely surprised when they find out that I still buy books too,” he laughs. “Lots of books. All the books.”

In his spare time, Michael enjoys gardening, learning to cook, visiting museums, walking his dog, Marzipan, reading and day trips.

Michael grew up in the Bay Area. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and his master’s in library information science from San Jose State.
