Family Rock and Read: How to Help Your Child Learn to Read

Submitted by CCCL_CherieB

Early literacy refers to the early skills that children develop to learn how to read and write. Did you know that there are five building blocks of early literacy? They are:

1. Sing
2. Play
3. Talk
4. Write
5. Read (of course!)

Simple activities like singing songs or talking with a child can help them learn to read. By engaging in all of these areas, children can build the confidence and skills they need to successfully read.

Want more opportunities to practice reading skills? Check out our Family Rock and Read video series! Tune in each Friday in October at 3:30 p.m at Project Second Chance’s Facebook page for storytimes, guest presenters, fun activities, and accessible tips for continuing the learning at home.

Don’t miss our first video, this Friday, October 2 at 3:30 pm, for a chance to watch, The Alphabet Rockers.
