The Pleasant Hill Library is celebrating an increase in open hours. Beginning Tuesday, January 3 the library will be open six days a week. The new hours funded by the City of Pleasant Hill include 10 hours on Mondays and two additional hours on Tuesdays. The library is now open 12 more hours each week for a total of 52.
This is the first time the city has funded more than eight additional hours and the first time since early 2020 the library has been open more than 40 hours. The City of Pleasant Hill is funding the additional hours with money from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
"We are delighted to support extended hours at the Pleasant Hill Library, said Pleasant Hill Mayor Michael Harris. "W.S. Langer said, 'Nothing is pleasanter than exploring a library.' Now with extended hours, the public will have more opportunities to explore the pleasantness of our wonderful new library."
"We appreciate our long-standing partnership with the City of Pleasant Hill and their support of the library," said Deputy County Librarian Gail McPartland. "The Pleasant Hill Library is a busy branch and the additional hours will help to provide more needed services to a very engaged community."
