Dear Valued Library Patron,
The summer traveling season is here and I hope many of you are preparing and planning for your much-deserved vacations. Whenever I travel, one of the things I look forward to is listening to a great book, whether it’s in the car or on the airplane. In fact, I really never have time to ‘read’ in the traditional sense anymore. I almost exclusively listen to books using the Library’s Libby app by OverDrive. Mostly, I listen while driving to and from work or errands, but if I really love a book, I’ll listen while cooking, gardening or even falling asleep. Libby has a timer you can use so it will turn off after a certain amount of time. I usually set it to five minutes after I go to bed, so I don’t have to backtrack too much the next day. Listening before going to sleep takes me back to the days of being a kid and using the timer option on my clock radio to listen to the top 40 songs playing softly while falling asleep.
Fast forward to this century and now we have Libby, which we can use anywhere and anytime on a smartphone. The app makes it so simple. You just choose your library, type in your library card number and then choose from thousands of titles. The digital library includes eBooks and eAudiobooks for children, teens, and adults. You can find all the bestsellers including mysteries, biographies, romance, science fiction, history, self-help, and much more.
Even if audiobooks aren’t your thing, I encourage you to browse Libby’s vast collection since it includes eBooks too. The app is super easy to use and free. All you need is your library card!

La temporada de viajar en el verano está aquí y espero que muchos de ustedes se estén preparando y planificando sus merecidas vacaciones. Cada vez que viajo, una de las cosas que espero con ansias es escuchar un gran libro, ya sea en el automóvil o en el avión. De hecho, ya no tengo tiempo de "leer" de la manera tradicional.
