The Moraga Library will be closed beginning on Saturday, July 29 for an interior improvement project that includes several areas of the library. The project is expected to take approximately 10 weeks and the library is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, October 10.
Improvements to the library include new carpet, relocating, and replacing the service desk, a new lounge area and marketplace, and resetting the bookshelves to improve accessibility. The refresh will also include new furniture in several areas of the library.
The last day to place new holds for pickup at the library is Sunday, July 23.
The book drop will be locked and holds will not be available for pickup during the closure. Library materials not picked up by the end of the day on Friday, July 28 can be collected when the library reopens on Tuesday, October 10. The hold period will be extended an extra week to October 17.
During the closure, patrons may place holds online and pick them up at the Lafayette or Orinda libraries or any other Contra Costa County Library.
Funding for the project is provided by the Town of Moraga and the Friends of the Moraga Library. The Friends contributed nearly $90k in support of the refresh. Additional contributions from Moraga resident Mr. Robert Muller and the Stankus Family also helped to make the project possible.
