El Sobrante Library is located in a scenic valley east of San Pablo Bay. The library, built in 1961 and completely remodeled in 2019, serves a community of over 16,000 residents. The library offers a variety of events for children, teens, and adults each month. Our program offerings include storytimes, the Remainders book club, and daily activities for kids like scavenger hunts and coloring. The library is a bright and pleasant space to visit and explore!
The newly renovated adjoining building, the Nancy Fahden House, is home to both the Friends of the El Sobrante Library (FESL) and the El Sobrante Historical Society. The building is named after Nancy Fahden, the first female elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1978, and once housed her District Office.
