El Sobrante Library is located in a scenic valley east of San Pablo Bay. The library, built in 1961 and completely remodeled in 2019, serves a community of 14,000 residents. The newly renovated adjoining building, the Nancy Fahden House, is home to both the Friends of the El Sobrante Library and the El Sobrante Historical Society. This building is named after Nancy Fahden, the first female elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1978, and once housed her District Office. The library offers a wide variety of programs for children, teens and adults, including weekly storytimes, film screenings, the Remainders book club, and more. In addition to programming, the library also provides access to public internet computers, free Wi-Fi, a meeting room, and library materials in various formats.
