Contra Costa County residents may search the Contra Costa Times database with a Library card or eCard for obituaries published since June 1995.

Obituaries that appeared in the Contra Costa Times prior to June 1995 are available on microfilm. Please visit the historical newspapers page for information.

Unfortunately, due to budget and staffing reductions, Library staff is unable to perform obituary searches on behalf of patrons or to respond to obituary requests from non-Contra Costa County residents.

However, local genealogical societies may have volunteers willing to help you locate Contra Costa County obituaries. The Contra Costa County Historical Society offers an online search on its Databases page. For a listing of other library systems that offer physical InterLibrary Loan services, please see https://libraries.oclc.org/

The Contra Costa County Library is not able to offer examination proctoring services.

In order to assist students in obtaining the testing services needed, we have complied a list of possible exam proctors in the area. This list is merely informational and does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of any type. Please contact the agency in question for accurate and complete information.
