Juneteenth is a recognition of June 19, 1865, when enslaved Black Americans in Texas were notified of their freedom, two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. This holiday has traditionally been celebrated with parades and floats, prayer and dancing, food, and family.
