Celebrating Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month: Exploring Diversity and Culture

Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15th to October 15th, is a vibrant and significant celebration of the contributions, culture, and history of Hispanic and Latinx communities in the United States.
 
At the Contra Costa County Library, we're excited to join in this nationwide observance by inviting you to immerse yourself in the vibrant mosaic of Hispanic culture and heritage with our carefully curated collection of library materials. Discover captivating novels that transport you to Latin American landscapes, insightful documentaries shedding light on the history and achievements of Hispanic communities, movies that bring stories to life, flavorful cookbooks offering a taste of tradition, and a wide array of books delving into the depth of cultural richness. Explore these books, films, music, cookbooks, digital resources and more to embark on a journey of learning, connection, and cultural exploration throughout this special month and beyond.
 
During the month, our library will host a series of events such as Ballet Folklórico Jaracue Dance Performance at the Oakley Library. The musical group, Cascada de Flores will be performing at the Lafayette Library. Play a fun game of lotería at the Pittsburg and Hercules Libraries. There's something for everyone to engage with and learn from.

Browse Hispanic Life in America to access a collection of over 17,000 American and global news sources that explore the experience and impact of Hispanic life in America from the early 18th century to today. Explore Libby/OverDrive to find stories that celebrate Latinx and Hispanic Heritage voices for all ages.

Celebrando el Mes de la Herencia Hispana: Explorando su Diversidad y su Cultura 
 
El Mes de la Herencia Hispana, que se celebra del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, es una celebración vibrante y significativa de las contribuciones, la cultura y la historia de las comunidades hispana y latina en los Estados Unidos.
 
La Biblioteca del Condado de Contra Costa, se complace en unirse a esta celebración nacional y te invita a sumergirte en el vibrante mosaico de la cultura y la herencia hispana con una colección de materiales de biblioteca cuidadosamente seleccionados para celebrar esta fecha.
