Discover & Go FAQs

  • General Questions

An eCard provides access to many of the Library's digital resources and allows you to place holds and to borrow eBooks. Contra Costa County residents may apply for an eCard at https://ccclib.org/get-a-library-card-info/

An email address is required to receive an ecard.

NOTE: eCards are not valid for use with Kanopy Movies, Hoopla, Discover & Go, or LINK+.  eCards cannot be used to borrow physical materials like books or DVDs.

To upgrade to a full-access card, please visit your library during open hours with photo ID and address verification. Please see our Library Policies Account page for accepted forms of address verification and for other important information about your library card and account.

If you do not have a picture ID or address verification, see how you can get a Welcome card.

Any patron with an acceptable photo ID, who does not already have a regular Library card, and who agrees to follow the rules of Contra Costa County Library, may be issued an Internet-only card.

Patrons must show photo ID as follows:

    • Current California Drivers’ License or ID card (temporary ID is not acceptable)
    • Student ID with photo
    • Government issued ID with photo
    • Credit card with photo
    • Other credible Identification with photo

Visit us in person at any Community Library to exchange the Internet-Only card for a full-access Library card.

    Terms of use:

    • You must be a resident of Contra Costa County. (If not, check your local library system to see if they participate: https://www.discoverandgo.org/).
    • You must be at least 16 years of age.
    • You need a full-access card (you cannot use an eCard, Welcome card, or an Institution card).
    • You can have up to two active reservations at a time.
    • You can make reservations up to three months in advance.
    • Reservations can be canceled only if the Print/Download button has not been clicked.

    • This pass is for use only by the person whose name is on the pass and only on the date specified. No photocopies are allowed. Valid ID is required.

No. eCards and Welcome cards only provide access to a few of our services and do not include Discover & Go. Institution cards, Internet Only, and Temporary cards do not work either. You'll need your own full-access card. You can get one by going to the circulation desk of any of our locations and presenting a photo ID and proof of current address. If you live in Contra Costa County and are 16 years or older you can access Discover & Go with your full-access card.

If you do not have a picture ID or address verification, see how you can get a Welcome card.

You can have up two active reservations at a time. Having two current reservations will temporarily block you from making additional reservations.

Once the date for one of those reservations is in the past, you can then make a new reservation. For instance, if the first of your two reservations is for this Saturday, you can make a new reservation the next day, on Sunday.

Yes, if you access Discover & Go on your mobile device, you will be directed to the mobile version of the site. Some attractions have agreed to accept mobile passes and you can gain admission by showing the pass on your mobile device. Those that do not accept mobile passes require you to print out the pass to be valid. This is indicated when you view your Discover & Go reservations on a mobile device.

On the first day of each month, available passes for the next three months are visible.

For example, on October 1, available passes for the months of October, November, and December are visible. Although the passes for October and November may have already been reserved, new passes will appear for December.

If passes for the current month are not available you can still check for those periodically too, as other users sometimes cancel their Discover & Go reservation, thus making a pass available again.

You can find a list of current Library partners at discoverandgo.org

You can cancel a pass ONLY if you have not clicked on the “Print/Download” button. Library staff cannot cancel passes for you. Passes cannot be cancelled after the reservation date has passed. We recommend you do not click “Print/Download” until right before your reservation so you still have the option to cancel reservations should the need arise.

To cancel a pass, log in to your Discover & Go account and click on the “Cancel Reservation” button.

Go to our homepage at ccclib.org and in the top right corner click on “Log In/My CCCLib.” On the drop down menu, click on “More Accounts.” Click on “Discover & Go Account” and then log in with your library card number and your PIN.

If this is your first time logging in, try your 6-digit date of birth as your PIN, using the format MMDDYY

If this doesn't work, please contact us.

NOTE: eCards are not valid for use with Discover & Go.
