Pride Comes in All Colors – A Guide to Bay Area Pride Celebrations

Contra Costa County Library invites you to join is in celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride! All throughout June, we’ll have an array of activities at your local branch, including:

· Pride flag coloring pages

· Pride rainbow buttons

· Events galore

· LGBTQ+ booklists to get your Pride started Per The Advocate, an LGBTQ+ publication available via Flipster with your Contra Costa County Library card: The gay pride parade is one of the biggest events of the year for the LGBT calendar. Founded in 1970 for the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, gay pride parades are a symbol of LGBT people's unwillingness to remain in the closet any longer. And they aren't all jockstraps and drag queens either--for their entire history, gay pride parades have always been a site of civic engagement, with a marked uptick in corporate participation in recent years.

Pride is celebrated throughout the Bay Area with parades and parties – and it’s not just limited to the month of June! We’ve compiled a list of Pride celebrations for you, here, so you can have a Happy Pride.
