  • General Questions

    My Lists allows you to keep track of books and other materials in the Library collection. A list is a collection of titles related to a specific topic or idea of your choosing.

    My Shelves gather in one place all the titles you have read, watched or listened to (Completed), are currently enjoying (In Progress) or would like to borrow in the future (For Later).

    If you use Hoopla and your library card number is replaced, you will need to update your library card number in your Hoopla account.

    On the Hoopla website

    • Sign in to your Hoopla account at hoopladigital.com with your existing email address and password that you created when you signed up.
    • Click on the gear icon located at the top of the Hoopla page to open your settings.
    • Click on Library
    • Make sure the library name field still says Contra Costa County Library.
    • Update the information in the Library Card field. 
    • Click Save.

    To update in the Hoopla app

    • Open the app
    • The gear icon for settings is in the lower right.
    • Scroll the settings and click on the Library Card section.
    • Update your information
    • Click Save when finished.

    View a summary of your library card account activity by logging into your library account and checking in one of two places:

    • Dashboard view on the left side of the screen or
    • Clicking the down arrow on your user ID in the upper right of screen

    Under the category Checked Out, the following items will be displayed:

    • Items that were checked out, but not yet due
    • items that were checked out, and less than 30 days overdue

    Under the category Fees, the following items will be displayed:

    • Replacement charges for items that were checked out, but are now 30 or more days past due (considered lost)
    • $10 processing fee associated with each lost item
    • Other fees such as collection fee, returned check fee, missing parts fees, etc.

    When a lost item is returned in good condition, the replacement charge and $10 processing fee associated with the item are removed from the account.

  • Access My Accounts

    Go to our homepage at ccclib.org and in the top right corner click on “Log In/My CCCLib.” On the drop down menu, click on “Log In/Register.” Enter your Library card number and your PIN.

    If this is your first time logging in, try your 6-digit date of birth as your PIN, using the format MMDDYY

    If this doesn't work, please contact us.

    No. eCards and Welcome cards only provide access to a few of our services and do not include Discover & Go. Institution cards, Internet Only, and Temporary cards do not work either. You'll need your own full-access card. You can get one by going to the circulation desk of any of our locations and presenting a photo ID and proof of current address. If you live in Contra Costa County and are 16 years or older you can access Discover & Go with your full-access card.

    If you do not have a picture ID or address verification, see how you can get a Welcome card.

    NOTE: eCards are not valid for use with Discover & Go. 

    To upgrade to a full-access card, please visit your library during open hours with photo ID and address verification. Please see our Library Policies Account page for accepted forms of address verification and for other important information about your library card and account.

    You may receive the following message if you unsuccessfully try to log in 5 times within a 60-second period:

    You have exceeded the maximum number of failed log in attempts. Please try again in 1 hour.

    If you are not able to log into your account after 1 hour, please contact your local library for assistance. 

     

     

     

  • Update/Renew Account

    California residents with cards in good standing and less than one year expired may renew their accounts online at https://ccclib.org/card-renewals/ with your card number and PIN:

    • Login with your library card number and PIN
    • Review your information. If nothing needs updating, select Renew button. This will renew your library account.
    • If you need to change your address, please do not use this form. Bring photo ID with address verification to any of our library locations to update your address and renew your account.
    • If you you need to reset your PIN or change your phone number or change your email:
      • Select Update Information button.
      • Make your changes.
      • Select Save.
      • Return to review your information. If everything is correct, select Renew button to renew your account.

    Expired accounts can also be renewed in person at any Community Library. Please bring ID and/or address verification as needed when renewing in person.

    There is no cost to renew your account or get a new card.

    You are able to change your PIN by choosing a number that is between 4 and 6 digits long. 

    You may change your PIN when renewing your library card at https://ccclib.org/card-renewals/ if you have your current PIN.

    • Login with your library card number and PIN
    • Select Update Information button:
      • Towards bottom, select the box for "Click checkbox to reset PIN".
      • in PIN field, enter your new PIN
      • in PIN (Confirm) field, enter your new PIN to confirm
      • Select Save.
      • Return to review your information. If everything is correct, select Renew button to renew your account.

    You can also change your PIN by accessing your account through our website at ccclib.org.

    • Log into your account
    • Go to settings.

    You can also go to your nearest library and request that staff change your PIN for you, provided you have your library card and valid photo ID.

    You may change your email address and phone number when renewing your library card at https://ccclib.org/card-renewals/ with your card number and PIN.

    • Login with your library card number and PIN
    • Select Update Information button.
      • Make your changes.
      • Select Save.
    • Review your information and select Renew button. This will renew your library account and update the changes you made.

    Other options:

    To change the email address on your Contra Costa County Library account for both borrowing and eMaterial reminders, do the following:

      1. Log in to your Library Account at https://ccclib.bibliocommons.com/user/login
      2. Click on your account name on the top right of the page and click on My Settings
      3. Under Account Information, click on “Email Address” and enter your information.

    You may also phone the Library to change an email address.

    To change the telephone number on your Contra Costa County Library account, contact the Library or visit your local library during open hours.

    If your library card is lost or stolen, contact the Library immediately with your name and address or Library card number (if known). We will place a block on your account so no one can borrow items without presenting valid photo ID.

    You can replace the missing card at your nearest library branch. Bring your valid photo ID. There is no cost to getting a replacement card.

    Welcome cards expire in 1 year.

  • Welcome Card

    It is a library card for applicants who are unable to provide picture ID AND address verification.

    Present ID or any one item from this list (must include applicant’s name) to staff at any community library and provide at least one form of contact: address, phone, and/or email address.

    Access to Digital Resources, e-books and databases, as permitted by the vendors

    Computer access in the library, including laptop borrowing and printing services

    Up to three physical items may be checked out at one time

    Discover and Go Museum Passes

    LINK+ interlibrary loans

    Welcome cards expire in 1 year.

    Welcome cards may be renewed online at https://ccclib.org/card-renewals/ with your card number and PIN:

    • Login with your library card number and PIN

    Yes. Simply bring the following into any Contra Costa County Library: Picture ID and address verification.

    Go to ccclib.org and in the top right corner click on “Log In/My CCCLib.”

    Click on the "Forgot your PIN" link on the Login page to receive an email to reset your PIN.

    If that does not work or if you did not receive an email, you will need to visit any branch in the Contra Costa County Library system and ask staff to reset the PIN on your account. Please be prepared to present your library card and ID.

  • Signing Up

    An eCard provides access to many of the Library's digital resources and allows you to place holds and to borrow eBooks. Contra Costa County residents may apply for an eCard at https://ccclib.org/get-a-library-card-info/ 

    An email address is required to receive an ecard.

    NOTE: eCards are not valid for use with Kanopy Movies, Hoopla, Discover & Go, or LINK+.  eCards cannot be used to borrow physical materials like books or DVDs.

    To upgrade to a full-access card, please visit your library during open hours with photo ID and address verification. Please see our Library Policies Account page for accepted forms of address verification and for other important information about your library card and account.

    Contra Costa County residents are eligible for an eCard. An eCard allows immediate access to many of the Library's online services and databases including Rosetta Stone, LinkedIn Learning, Brainfuse HelpNow live online tutors, New York Times and East Bay Times. It also allows you to place holds on items and borrow eBooks. 

    An email address is required to receive an ecard.

    eCards expire in 1 year.

    NOTE: eCards are not valid for LINK+, Kanopy Movies, Hoopla, or Discover & Go. eCards cannot be used to access public computers or to borrow physical materials like books or DVDs.

    You can apply for an eCard at https://ccclib.org/get-a-library-card-info/

    Any patron with an acceptable photo ID, who does not already have a regular Library card, and who agrees to follow the rules of Contra Costa County Library, may be issued an Internet-only card.

    Patrons must show photo ID as follows:

    • Current California Drivers’ License or ID card (temporary ID is not acceptable)
    • Student ID with photo
    • Government issued ID with photo
    • Credit card with photo
    • Other credible Identification with photo

    Visit us in person at any Community Library to exchange the Internet-Only card for a full-access Library card.
